This real crime book was so annoying and I absolutely devoured it

Love has won is the name of the cult of the new age which is at the center of this book. It is the story of Amy, her metamorphosis in Mother God (as her name was and called her others), and her foundation of this cult. The events of this book are very recent, as in the last decade. We can also see the creeping propagation of this online cult and the details of the way the disinformation has spread so frightening and largely horrible. The author does an excellent job to describe where people were in when they discovered this information – their solitude, their feelings of being foreigners, their constant research and their conviction that there is something bigger. Love has won answers and worship for all this.

Another thing that the author does with this book that I deeply appreciate is to add more than a century and half of the context. At the heart of a certain number of lies of the new age, including those on which Love has won was based, is a demystified theory of a British zoologist from the 1860s. The author begins there, and as you read, you really have an idea of the way things have quickly become uncontrollable. There is also information on historical spiritualists and gurus of the new self -proclaimed age and how their inheritance has reached the present, as well as those who still live today.

Love won, the first iteration with Amy Living as a Mother God, was not durable, but there are still a certain number of spin-off groups that prosper today, which, once again, is really annoying. It is not a spoiler that Amy dies and it is horrible – not Gorey violent, but very dark. Because it is such a recent thing and there was a three -part documentary on these events in 2023, the author was able to interview many people, including part of the Amy’s family.

There are many content warnings for this book: alcoholism, children’s mistreatment, verbal, emotional, psychological and physical violence, anti-Semitism and perhaps more. This book was much to manage, especially as a person who generally does not read the real crime, but I absolutely devoured it.
