Stand-up comedy course at Sonoma Community Center

Learn the basics of stand-up comedy during a five-week course led by comedian Jesse Fernandez at the Sonoma Community Center.
New Year’s Eve, the time to make all those annoying New Year’s resolutions, is over. If you haven’t promised yourself anything, or if you’ve already broken a resolution or two, you may want to take advantage of these two upcoming events to make yourself a more amazing, well-rounded person.
Have you ever wanted to stand alone on stage, with the spotlight on you, with nothing to hide behind you but a 1/2-inch diameter metal tube holding your microphone? A five-week stand-up comedy course begins next Saturday at the Sonoma Community Center to help make your dreams come true.
The course will be taught by Jesse Fernandez, a professional comedian and educator. Fernandez previously taught the same class at Punch Line in San Francisco and at Google headquarters.
Fernandez promises to teach the basics of stand-up: how to secure a solid understanding of basic comedy skills, boost your confidence and stage presence, learn to craft and deliver funny material, overcome stage fright, enhance your public speaking abilities, and improve your career prospects with humor.
The course will run for five weeks from 2 to 4 pm on Saturdays. Please visit sonomacommunitycenter.org To register.
