This strange, little-remembered series from Granada Television is set in Liverpool and revolves around the Freeman family.

Liz (Gilly Coman) and Jack Freeman (Jonathan Barlow) have been happily married for nearly 20 years.

During that time, they raise a large Catholic family in the (fictional) Spring Hill residential area of ​​Merseyside (the series was actually filmed in Moghul) with five boisterous children.

The eldest, Nick (Scott Williams), was 18 years old, a garage mechanic, while the younger, John Paul (Paul Culshaw), was 13 years old.

Their lives are thrown into turmoil with the unwelcome arrival of Eva Morrigan (Katherine Rogers), a vengeful woman bent on unearthing a mysterious past and a dark secret by revealing that she is the actual mother of three of the Freeman children.

This battle evolved into a battle between good and evil over a new baby (who was actually the Second Coming of Christ!), fought between Eva, Liz and the Freeman’s new housekeeper Marian (Jodie Holt) – who was secretly an angel!

Episodes dealt with complex issues, including adoption, genetic sexual attraction, polyamory, homosexuality, infertility, surrogacy, and murder. There was also a lot of religious imagery and supernatural elements, including angels, apparitions, magic, time travel, and the second coming of Christ.

The series was initially broadcast on Sky One satellite channel and later rebroadcast on Channel 4.

Gilly Coman died of a heart attack in 2010, two weeks before she was scheduled to have a pacemaker procedure. She was only 54 years old.

Jonathan Barlow died on January 10, 2014.
