“By God we trust” – Church News

Editor’s note: “Spoken wordCommon before Derek Porter Every Sunday during the Tabernacle Weekly Choir in Temple Square Broadcast. This Sunday, March 16, 2025.

A few years ago, a young boy in the fifth grade was praying in the school hallway. His aunt died unexpectedly earlier that week, and the family agreed to stop at 11:30 in that morning to unify the prayer for all those affected by the tragedy.

One of the classmates of the study noticed the young boy praying and then approached him on the field, giving him a draft law on the United States. Like every bill for the United States in trading, on his back, read, “In God we trust.” He told his fifth -grade boy colleague to trust in God and that everything would be fine.

Three years later, the young boy in the fifth grade is now the eighth and most mature students. Another man has learned that nearly 40 years old, who need rest. The boy wrote a short letter to the older man who mainly said: “Someone gave this to me when I was facing a difficult time. I now want to give it to you.” The message included the same bill for the dollar granted for this fifth row on the field three years ago. On the back of the bill, of course, was the same inscription: “In God, we trust.” With tears in his eyes, the man Breyr Bell took home and put him on his wardrobe, where he and his wife could look at her every day and are reminded of confidence in God in all their needs.

Trust in God builds our confidence, dispels our fears and sets the foundation for miracles.

This was true for King Hezekiah when his people faced the wide invading armies of Assyria. He told his soldiers, “Be strong and brave, do not be afraid and do not feel dismay, because there is something more than us: with him an arm of the body; 2 records 32: 7-8). They were saved.

Like King Hezekiah and his colleague in the fifth grade, where we all seek to trust in God, we can ensure that God will fight our norms. “Our shelter and our strength will be very present in trouble” (Psalm 46: 1). “Because with God, nothing is impossible” (Luke 1:37).
