Olly Alexander drops emotionally fraught new single ‘When We Kiss’
British pop god Olly Alexander kicks off the new year in style with the unveiling of his latest single “When we kiss” – super relevant pop bop that focuses on the push-pull of a relationship full of “tension, lust, need, desire” and multiple complexities rooted in nagging questions about the future.
Excerpt from the singer’s next album “Polari”and produced by Danny L. Harle (Charli) and Finn Keane (Bree Track, Rita Ora)the captivating track is described as a song “as much pain as love”.
Commenting on his latest release, Olly said: ““When we kiss” is an epic love song about a difficult time in a relationship, where you don’t know whether to break up or stay together forever. I wanted this song to reflect these conflicting feelings, all the pain and ecstasy of loving someone. I believe heartbreak and synthesizers are made for each other and I had a great time doing it with my Polari partner, Danny L Harle. Our goal was to take the listener on a ravishing journey of heartfelt emotions, from angst to euphoria and back again.

Release scheduled for next month, “Polari” – Olly Alexander’s first studio album under his own name – sees the multi-faceted singer-songwriter explore the themes of “Desire, intimacy, voyeurism and destiny” all wrapped in a thrilling club soundscape.
Made alongside writer and producer Danny L Harle, the record draws inspiration primarily from the (almost) lost art of Polari. Originating in Europe and the Roma community as early as the 1600s, this coded slang actually became a secret language for homosexuals and the stigmatized during the 20th century.
With singles ‘Cupid’s bow‘ the album’s punchy title track and ‘Archangel’ the LP promises to be one of the pop albums of the year!
