10 splendid villains of science fiction films – and more SFF links

Hello, my Small click sharks! In today’s overview of recent science fiction and fantasy ties, I have things to share with you on the big bad science fiction, the rest of Night book By Holly Black, disturbing science fiction shows, and more!
Can science fiction help us imagine a better future?
Annalee Newitz launched a new series entitled “SCI X SCI-FI” to Yale, discussing science fiction and the future. They spoke a little before the science fiction, robots and future event.
“I think that the best fiction offers us a practical image of a future world where things could better go – we could have negative carbon energy sources or sustainable agricultural practices – but at the same time, we will always face difficult problems around governance and the allocation of resources. I think what science fiction offers is a safe sand where we can play new possible techniques.
The most recent book by Newitz, a comfortable science fiction novel called Automatic noodlesOn August 5, 2025 of Tordotcom. These are robots that run a noodle shop and what’s going on when their restaurant begins to be bombed by hatred with a star criticism. (Whenever I see the book mentioned online, my brain begins to sing “Automatic buffalo“By the divine Sheila. Which doesn’t bother me, because it’s a very good song.)
10 bad guys of science fiction films that were so large, they even surpass the hero
A good villain can make or break a story, and landscape macons are often the best. This list of excellent bad science fiction films Maybe my favorite list that I have shared so far. I agree with so much!
First of all, there is Jean-Baptiste Emanuel Zorg The fifth elementPlayed by Gary Oldman. Love Oldman or hate it, he is an incredibly talented chameleon. I love this film so much, I made a multipass Leeloo Dallas. And I have heard nothing recently to challenge this fact: The fifth element is the only large commercial outing in which the hero and the villain do not share the screen for a second.
There is also Roy Batty of the 1982 original Blade runnerPlayed with such strange joy by the deceased and Grand Rutger Hauer. I was not so excited about David Prometheus And Alien: AllianceBut I like to be included because This video (NSFW) underline all the problems with Prometheus always makes me laugh. (Another problem – they spent the bad title in the article.)
And then I have to shout immortan Joe to Mad Max: Fury RoadSimply because he looks like Bane and Debbie Harry had a baby. What are your favorite science fiction bad fiction?
The sequel to Book of Night by Holly Black arrives in 2025!
The rest of the start of Holly Black adult fiction Night book has been announced! It’s called Night thiefAnd continues the adventures of the Contempt Charlie Hall.

People recently revealed the coverage And spoke to Black of the book. “With Near thieft, “she said People Exclusively, “I wanted to push Charlie Hall even further – in darker places, a deeper magic and confront his own shadow. I loved exploring shadows not only like the monstrous burns that live in this world, but as secrets, like hunger, like the parts of ourselves, we pretend that they do not exist until they get up to consume everything. “

Ayana Gray I’s adult debut, Medusa faces a legendary monster
Let’s go back to the bad guys, Ayana Gray will release her first novel for adults, Me, Medusaat the end of the year. She faces one of the greatest monsters in mythology, Medusa, whose face makes people turn into a stone when they look at her. But like many recent popular books, including Circe And KikeyiGray takes a very unhealthy silhouette of tradition and tells its side of the story.
From the publisher: “In the streets of the colorful market of Athens and the clandestine rooms of the temple, Meddy flourishes in his role of privileged acolyte of Athena, obtaining his first tastes of goal and power. But when she is noticed by another Olympian, Poseidon, a drunk night between the girl and the god who ends with violence, and the course of Meddy Promenson
Her locs have transformed into snakes as a punishment for a crime she has not committed, Medusa must embrace a new identity – not as a victim but as a vigilant – and with her, the possibility of writing her own story as mortal, martyr and myth.
Exploding with rage, sorrow and love, Me, Medusa Depicted a young woman caught in the crossed currents between the deepest desires of her heart and the cruel and carefree games that the Olympian gods play.
People recently revealed the coverage From Gray’s book too, and she talked about the jellyfish in her pages. “Medusa is an emblematic but often one-dimensional figure in classical Greco-Roman mythology”, explains Gray People. “She is often represented as a bad guy, but I learned that the best bad guys never think about this way and I wanted to explore this.” She adds: “I was inspired to write a story that forces readers to decide for themselves if it really deserves to be called Monster.”
Me, Medusa will be released on November 18, 2025 by Random House
The 10 most disturbing science fiction shows
No surprise, I end with another list! Collider has a list of The 10 most disturbing science fiction shows. Disturbing is my favorite flavor, so I was disappointed with myself after reading this list, because I only saw one of the programs listed, X-Filesno more episodes of Black mirror And the episode “enough last” of The twilight zone. (The dream of each book lover!) Which of these shows do you like? What science fiction show would you add?
Okay, stars, now take the knowledge you have learned here today and use it for good, not evil. If you want to know more about the books, I’m talking about books almost constantly (when I don’t read them), and you can hear me say a lot of adjectives about them on the Podcast BRU All books! and on Bluesky And Instagram.
