Julia Michaels and Maren Morris team up for new single ‘Scissors’
Singer-songwriters Julia Michaels and Maren Morris have once again joined forces for a new collaboration titled “Scissors.”
The light-hearted offering discusses easily breaking up with a cheating ex, with the couple singing, “Do you want to say goodbye?” I don’t cry a lot/If you want to cut the ties/I’ll get the scissors, baby. Julia and Maren’s voices complement each other perfectly, the duo delivering a delicious blend of sweetness and sass as they prepare to say goodbye to the last waste of time in their lives.
Speaking about the track, Julia said ABC Audio: “I wrote “Scissors” in my notes on my phone – I just thought it would be a funny way of saying I’m not bothered. You know, I’m just like, “Hey, I’m actually not as sensitive as you might think.” If you want to stay, cool. Otherwise, I won’t cry.
“Scissors” comes with a Blythe Thomas-directed video that sees the pair get revenge on Julia’s on-screen love interest. Channeling their inner Edward Scissorhands, Julia and Maren prepare to perform surgery with a tiny pair of scissors…

“Scissor” marks Julie and Maren’s second collaboration, following the track “cut!” ” from 2024. Although the tracks have similar-sounding names, they were written separately and are simply the result of a “cosmic deity”.
