This Du Mont-produced anthology was broadcast live between October and December 1962, sponsored by the Gulf Oil Corporation, hence the title.

first episode, “double line”, It featured a young married couple who were star reporters for rival newspapers.

When the wife (Nina Foch) outsmarts her husband (Dennis O’Keefe) in a big story, professional jealousy begins to set in, and the angry husband insists that his wife leave her career to take on the duties of a housewife.

When she refused, their marriage seemed to be headed for the rocks.

Other episodes featured actors including Gene Lockhart, Jack Palance, Hoagy Carmichael, Eddie Bracken, and Ward Bond.

In July, August and September of the following year, Gulf Oil also sponsored the 11-part anthology series First person, Which, as a result, was broadcast under the sponsor’s banner, Gulf Theater.
