The LG M5 wireless OLED TV might be weirdly the perfect pick for PC gamers, especially with the Nvidia RTX 5080 on the horizon

OLED It is quickly becoming the most widely used display technology with The best gaming computers After a bit of a breakout in the last couple of years for OLED and QD-OLED options in between Best gaming monitors -And there’s a surprisingly tempting new option, even though it’s not actually a screen. But it’s OLED, and it’s made for PC gaming.
the LG The M5 OLED TV has just been announced, and it doesn’t just have the specs PC gamers are looking for – 4K144 Hz, including VRR Nvidia J. Sinek, W AMD FreeSync support – but it also provides a wireless connection between your TV display and an external connection box, meaning you can disconnect your PC from your TV, allowing for real flexibility of placement.
Imagine: On your device, you have a regular gaming screen. But sometimes, you want to game on the couch in front of the big screen – in the case of the M5, the wireless box is also part of your desk setup, so you can access all the same game libraries on your big screen, with all your favorite saved settings. Your PC acts as both a PC and console thanks to the Zero Connect wireless box. Could the LG M5 be the perfect PC gaming TV?
Specifications and flexibility are abundant
Let’s get one thing clear – the LG M5 OLED isn’t the first to offer the wireless technology that PC gamers will love. This title belongs to the M5’s predecessor, the LG M3. This also offers 4K resolution and high frame rates with support for VRR, Nvidia G-Sync, AMD FreeSync, and a Zero Connect box, which is a wireless connections box that you connect all external devices to, which then transmits the signal to the TV itself meaning a mostly cable-free experience (it’s still cable power is required for the display itself).
But where the LG M5 will be better than its predecessor, according to LG, is in the freedom of where the Zero Connect box goes. LG has promised that Zero Connect on the M5 will be “optically lossless” and “true wireless,” no matter where the M5 and Zero Connect Box are placed. The M4’s Zero Connect Box requires line of sight, which means objects can obstruct signals, but the M5 is said to have much more flexibility in its placement options, while still offering effectively zero latency.
So, while the LG M3 and M4 TVs weren’t ideal for all setups, the M5 should be flexible so you can hide the box out of sight and still get its wireless tricks up its sleeve.
Perfect timing for the Nvidia RTX 5080
It’s no secret that Nvidia makes some… Best graphics cards On the market, with the RTX 4060, 4070 and 4080 all featuring among our picks for the best graphics cards. AMD has had a strong year, but when there’s talk of a new Nvidia graphics card on the horizon, people take notice.
It is not surprising, then, that A A recent leak of images is said to be an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 It has sent the PC world into a frenzy, with many believing its reveal is imminent — perhaps even at CES 2025. This is likely perfect timing for the LG M5 OLED. Since it’s an Nvidia G-Sync certified wireless TV, it should be a perfect match for the Nvidia RTX 5080.
One thing to note – none of this will be cheap. While PC gamers can expect to pay a lot for top-of-the-line equipment, the LG M5 OLED will be at the high end of the premium OLED TV market. Although we don’t have prices for the M5 itself, the LG M4 launched at around €5,000 / $4,499 / £3,799, which is a significant price increase compared to LG G4So you can expect the LG M5 to be similar, if not more so.
But, if you’re looking for a premium PC gaming experience with an OLED TV, the M5’s improved Zero Connect flexibility over the M4 could make it the perfect companion for PC gamers. Imagine not having to move your computer setup!
