Music teacher loses sex discrimination tribunal case

A music teacher has lost his sexual discrimination case against the Ministry of Education, Sports and Culture.
Brass player Gary Reynolds took the oath to court over his salary, which he claimed was less than women in the same position.
The court heard that DESC did not accept his qualifications as adequate – despite them being recognized in Scotland – and so placed him on a different pay scale to other music teachers.
After hearing that one teacher who had been paid more for the same job had a qualification recognized by management, and that another had been paid more by mistake, the court rejected Mr Reynolds’ claim.
