Emilie Pérezracking up 11 BAFTA nods. Both films set the stage for an unpredictable awards season, filled with new faces, veteran icons and a few eyebrow-raising surprises.

Among the nominees, The Brutalist holds good with new BAFTA nominations, while Anora, Dune: Part TwoAnd Wicked follow with seven each. However, the omission of Wicked of the coveted Best Picture category sparked much discussion on social media, as did the BAFTA’s continued snobbery of Denzel Washington, this time for his lauded performance in Gladiator 2.
