Beautiful abyss: Song Song

The characters of the photographer who turned into Janis Song’s artist at home appear in natural environments, whether in a lily pool or garden, floating like a nearby milk ghost. Her last exhibition, which appears at the Nucleus exhibition in Los Angeles, is the first use of the artist’s physical media. Although you can definitely see the effect of one of her inspiration, Yoshitaka Amano in her work, Song is skilled, sensitive to natural elements and delusional mystery in her all that looks like the spring from a different place. The artist asked some questions about her new working group and move from digital media to physical media.

In your new abyss, there is a floating view, often mired, surrounded by KOI fish. She seems to have a suspicious expression on her face. Her lips are bright like neighboring Koi. Can you tell us what you may think? She seems to have a story that she tells … Should we trust its intentions?

“The Abyss” carries unique importance to me, and it was the third part of the group. I imagine it as a wool in the depths of the water, accompanied by its comrades Koy. I am soft columns in mystery, and I invited viewers to approach them with caution, which reflects the experience of those who face them. Its shape is not restricted by man. Instead, it can be completely unconventional.

You can use large areas of negative space in your paintings. Is the composition a prelude to your art creation process?

Yes, the composition plays a pivotal role in my paint process, as it works as one of the wedding stones that unite the entire piece.

The numbers in your paintings, although they are often not preserved, wear interesting decorative jewelry. Do you design jewelry yourself? Are they present? And I do not do?

I love browsing through magazines and Pinterest as a source of inspiration to cut jewelry in my paintings. I enjoy combining items from different decorative pieces to create unique designs that complement the topics. The idea of developing the jewelry line in the future looks very exciting.
