Amazing image of the Australian desert lights up the increasing problem of satellite pollution – enormous

In January 2021, Joshua Roselles Pinnacles is ventured in western Australia, which intends to photograph the stars path. But after the shooting for more than three hours and reviewing his photos, he realized that the highlights he took was not what he was hoping.

“There were visible satellite routes in almost every image,” wrote on Instagram. “Instead of trying to get rid of it for Trail Trail, I decided to put satellite tracks together in one image to show the night sky pollution.”

Sewing together 343 distinct photos, Rozells illuminates a growing problem. When Elon Musk’s Spacex Starlink launched in 2019, 60 satellites filled the sky, with a race from other companies to follow. This number It has now reached 10,000With tens of thousands in business. Spacex alone plans to launch another 40,000.

Rozells visually visit astronomers, who warn that although satellites collect basic data, the amazing amount that fills our sky will only exacerbate light pollution and our ability to study more than. Because this industry has a little regulations, the problem can go without deterrent.

“Fortunately, astronomers around the world noticed this growing issue and started speaking,” Rozells adds. “Organizations such as the International Astronomical Union Center for Dark and Cross Conscience defend the organization and protection of the night sky.” (via Cotc))
