The soundtracks of Chie Shimizu



Chie Shimizu sculptures began hidden, and they are rooted in exploring “the importance of human existence”. The artist, born in Japan now based in Queens, New York, has drafted these exciting characters over the past two decades, moving between various standards and text curricula.


“My work revolves around the eternal question that arises in life: What is the importance of human existence?” The artist says. “Human life appears small and weak against the enormity of nature, however every life is unique and full of energy, so I think the short periods of our lives are similar to what appears to be waving on the horizon … The subject of sculpture is always a person in general.
