“It should not put us in a country community the opportunities that music can bear. It does not cost anything to consider – only the time of filling the application,” said Baker, a Blackboot citizen in his second year of teaching in MVMS and who once enrolled in school.

Each student formulated an introduction based on their tool, adding a personal touch of the project. The possible committee project allowed students to contribute to the creative process of forming a new piece, while giving them a unique opportunity to express themselves through music in ways that they may not believe is possible.

A prominent moment came when Kennedy Ranhart, the Full player in the seventh grade, chose her idea of the 15 best requests in the country. Although her concept was not eventually chosen as the final inspiration for “TOCK”, Baker expressed her tremendous pride in its completion, recognizing it as a wonderful honor.

Baker explained that the name “TOCK” symbolizes the sound of the watch, which represents the passage of time, life experiences, and the journey of music itself.

The “TOCK” composition has now been completed and will be shown for the first time by Mountain View School in the first show of the Mountain West regional weapon during its final concert in May.

“This project has allowed them to contribute to the creation of a new part of the music that will be implemented one day around the world, while exposing them to the complications of the restoration of life,” says Baker. “For students from a small rural community in southeast of Idaho, this experience is really distinctive.”

“Children are completely pleased to be part of a big thing,” Baker added. “It is inspiring to see them very excited to hold a piece of music in their hands to the point that they helped create it in one way or another.”

Baker hopes the school’s participation in this program in opening the door for future opportunities, adding: “We are already looking to participate in more possible projects in the commission in the coming years, and who knows?

“I am incredibly proud of my students and their dedication during the past few months. This program has allowed my students to experience something they might imagine. They were part of something greater than themselves, and it is a memory that they will carry with them for life.”
