Talon Esports and Yakult Brothers among BLAST Slam II team invites

In total, 10 teams will head to Copenhagen, Denmark and compete for a share of the $1 million (~£816,825) prize pool.

The most notable absence from the BLAST Slam II event is Season 1 champion PGL Wallachia Team spirit. The 2021 and 2023 winners of The International finished the inaugural BLAST Slam event in last place.

Besides Team Spirit, HEROIC and OG did not receive invitations to compete in the event, opening the door for three new teams to participate.

Filling the slots are the Chinese team Yakult Brothers,Southeast Asia team eSports TalonAnd the Emirates Electronic Sports Organization Nygma Galaxy.

Returning to BLAST Slam II are Team Liquid, Team Falcons, Parishion, and Xtreme Gaming. Wrestlers Jaeminand Tundra Esports and BLAST Slam I team winners BetBoom.

BLAST Slam II is Dota 2’s second tournament circuit event that was first revealed in May 2024. BLAST also runs notable events in Fortnite, Rainbow Six Siege, and Counter-Strike 2.

BLASTSLAM II format

BLAST Slam II will take place from February 3 to 9, 2025, and is divided into group and qualifying stages.

The ten teams are divided into two groups of five where they will play best of one (BO1) and home and away matches to earn classification points.

The first seeds qualify for the semi-finals, the second seeds qualify for the quarter-finals, and the third seeds play in the second round. The fourth and fifth seeds are placed in the first round.

The playoffs feature a single-elimination bracket where the majority of matches are best-of-three (BO3). The Grand Final is a best-of-five (BO5) match.

The $1 million prize pool is divided among the 10 teams as follows:

  • 1st – $400,000 (~£326,750)
  • 2nd – $200,000 (~£126,293)
  • 3rd/4th – $80,000 (~£65,317)
  • V/VI – $50,000 (~£40,823)
  • 7th/8th – $40,000 (~£32,658)
  • 9th/10th – $30,000 (~£24,493)
