‘Wicked: Part Two’ Gets an Official Title: ‘Wicked: For Good’

The highly anticipated sequel to Villain: Part One officially received a new name. Universal Pictures has announced that the next film will be titled Villain: for good. Fans can expect the continuation of Elphaba and Glinda’s story to hit theaters on November 21, 2025.
The first part, Villain: Part Oneproved to be a huge success after its release on November 22, 2024. The film grossed $359 million nationally and a staggering figure $524 million worldwide. It is now the highest-grossing Broadway film adaptation at the domestic box office, surpassing the 1978 classic. Fat. Globally, it is second behind Mom Mia (2008), which was worth $611 million.
Director Jon M. Chu returns to direct the second part of the Wicked saga. The film features an all-star cast, including Ariana Grande like Glinda, Cynthia Erivo like Elphaba, Jeff Goldblum as a wizard, Michelle Yeoh like Madame Morrible, and Jonathan Bailey like Fiyero.
Villain: for good will continue to bring the beloved Broadway musical to life on screen. The story serves as a prequel to The Wizard of Ozexploring the untold story of Glinda the Good Witch and Elphaba, the misunderstood Wicked Witch of the West.
Villain: Part One introduced fans to Glinda and Elphaba’s complex friendship during their time at Shiz University. After an unlikely start as roommates, the two became close despite their differences. The second film will pick up where the first left off, focusing on Elphaba’s rise as a powerful force and her labeling as the enemy of Oz by the Wizard and Madam Morrible.
The title, Villain: for goodis inspired by the emotional song from Act 2, For good. The track is a heartbreaking one that highlights how the characters’ lives have been forever shaped by their friendship.
Director Jon M. Chu said the sequel would have a big emotional impact. Talk to Varietyhe shared:
“It becomes eight times more relevant than before when we talk about truth and the consequences of good or bad choices. It’s intense.
Fans are already excited about what’s to come. With Villain: Part One breaking records, the sequel promises to be another spectacular musical extravaganza.
