MCON mobile controller turns your iPhone into a gaming console

on last few monthsI’ve been following an intrepid creator looking to solve a problem I know. Finding a powerful video game controller for a smartphone has always been difficult. There are plenty of Bluetooth controllers on the market, as well as some that plug directly into your phone. The problem with these controllers is that you have to carry a separate accessory with you wherever you go. MCON solves this problem.
Available now for Back on KickstarterThe MCON is a mobile controller that attaches to the back of any phone magnetically. When not in use, the MCON slides behind your phone, allowing you to leave it attached at all times, even if you’re using a case.
Once the controller is connected to your phone, you can literally “turn it on” at any time by pressing the two buttons that will pop your phone up. The controller itself features A, B, X, and Y buttons as well as a D-pad, Hall effect joystick, function buttons, and left and right triggers. There are also two foldable grips that improve ergonomics during long gaming sessions and make the device feel more like a traditional controller.
In order to support as many phones as possible, the controller comes with two 2.5mm jacks integrated with MagSafe magnetic arrays. If your iPhone has a camera bump, you can stack one or both pucks on the MCON to ensure there is enough room. If you have a case, it may create a sufficient statement on its own.
On the other hand, if you have an Android phone or device without MagSafe, you can use the included adhesive MagSafe adapter to make the controller fit your phone.
The MCON controller will retail for $149 USD, but there are several early bird promotions available for those who back the product on Kickstarter, keeping the price as low as $99 USD. It will come in black and white, and is supposed to be delivered in August 2025.
If you decide to pick one up, inside the box you’ll find an MCON controller, a USB-C cable, two magnetic disks, and a sticky MagSafe adapter.
