In recent years, we have seen elderly detectives make their mark on large and small screens. We had the news of the five-year-generational season Only murders in the building started filming. We just got out of the first season of Robert Thorogood ‘S Marlowe murder club TV series on PBS. Later this year, we will see Robert Osman Thursday of murder on The big screen.

It’s a good time for older detectives. Again, I think that elderly detectives have always been a staple in the world of mysteries, with the obvious example of Miss Marple. What I like is how we see authors writing their detectives, including residents of nursing houses that come together, ghosts and scandalous grande-males and detectives who are forced to get out of retirement. We also see more diversity in elderly detectives, which is a boon for readers and writers. Here is a list of eight comfortable mysteries featuring detectives in one way or another. Sometimes they are the protagonists, and sometimes they help the amateur detective.
